Campeche seeks to become home of new Pemex refinery and headquarters

After meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Business Coordinating Council and Coparmex, Campeche’s Secretary of Economic Development said that Ciudad del Carmen has the infrastructure and experience for this new designation.

Campeche’s Secretary of Economic Development, José Domingo Berzunza, said that Campeche and Ciudad del Carmen are ready and have the experience, infrastructure and skilled labor to become the headquarters of a refinery and the headquarters of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).

The official reaffirmed this after meeting with the representation of the Ministry of Economy (SE), as well as with representatives of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) and Coparmex in Ciudad del Carmen, to shape strategies and proposals for the location of the refinery and the Pemex offices there.

He stressed that by instruction of Governor Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, work is under way to present the transition team of the federal government, headed by Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as soon as possible, a document that will inform about the capabilities of Ciudad del Carmen.

“We have infrastructure, buildings for offices, the experience of companies that for many years have rendered their services to the oil industry, in addition to the value chain that have shaped the (region’s small and medium-sized businesses),” said Domingo Berzunza.
