PROGRESO — Early last Friday, garbage collection work began in the neighborghoods of San Ignacio, Flamboyanes, Paraíso, Chelem, Chuburna and Chicxulub Puerto, in order to respond to the demands of support to end the problem of accumulated trash which the new municipal administration, headed by the mayor Julián Zacarías Curi, says is a priority.

Karim Dib López, director of Public Services and Ecology, explained that for this day the ports of Chicxulub, Chelem and Chuburna were being served by five tippers of the Commune, two compactors and 20 trucks of the collectors’ union. As for San Ignacio, Flamboyanes and Paraíso, the company Sana, of the city of Mérida, provided two gondola-type trucks to receive the waste of those communities.

The work of garbage collection in the western area continued Saturday (from Puerto de Abrigo to 80th street) and Sunday moved to the east (from 80th street to the Benito Juárez neighborhood).

Dib López thanked those who have participated in these cleaning activities.

“Several residents have told us that the neighborhoods have always been forgotten, that they also count and that they are in the best disposition to support, so that their streets are clean, and we ask them to be aware that this is everyone’s task”.

Dib López exhorted the inhabitants to properly bag their garbage. The service runs from 8 in the morning to 8 at night.
