Colorful costumed canines to parade for carnival in Chicxulub

CHICXULUB PUERTO, Yucatan — For the first time in the Chicxulub Puerto beach community, carnival parties will include pets,  with the first “Canine Carnival”, which was announced by leaders of this town.

This event will feature the participation of pets, which in the framework of the carnival celebrations will be costumed by their owners to parade through the streets of the beachside resort.

Registration for this event is open, and all dog breeds can participate. Registration is free and will take place at the city offices.

The pets that participate must wear a collar and chain, and the owners must carry bags to remove stools. If the dog is aggressive, it must have a muzzle. Also, the contest asks as a requirement that the pet be costumed and the domain of the mascot, creativity of the costume and owner’s management with the pet will be qualified. The winners of the contest will receive a surprise prize.

The activity, organized by the port community council, will take place today February 16 at 5 pm in the port’s municipal building.

It is worth mentioning that the port city council has been carrying out more events involving pets, such as the Christmas Canine Festival that was held on December 22, which also included costumed pets and contests, as well as a demonstration of canine training.
