During the patriotic celebrations last weekend, the Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office (Profeco) sanctioned four restaurants and bars when they did not have prices displayed, as well as two department stores, informed Director José Antonio Nevárez Cervera, after concluding this operation.

Speaking to reporters, he commented that from September 8 to 16, visits were made to the aforementioned establishments, detecting serious faults, which resulted in the total suspension of business, together with fines.

Up to now the amount to be paid has not been indicated, since it depends on the damage and intentionality, as well as not having recidivism. But fines are estimated to range between 10 thousand to 15 thousand pesos.

This number of sanctions was higher than last year, so it is necessary to continue publicizing the obligations, terms and conditions in which the establishments have to work, the official said.

The next operation will be related to complaints in tourism, since there has been a large number related to hotels and car rental agencies.

Other complaints have to do with discrimination. “A new trade in imports was suspended where people with disabilities were not allowed to enter, it could not be that there are still such cases, as well as the case of a client who was not allowed to come in for bringing his guide dog,” he added.

Nevárez Cervera committed to be very attentive to avoid these cases re-occur, as well as publicize the regulations that exist in these issues.
