Seeing Ofelia Medina embodying Frida Kahlo or discovering the mystery that surrounds the Circus where nobody heard anything, will be part of the magic created for the tenth edition of the White Night, that next Saturday, December 8, from eight in the evening until two in the morning, promises to electrify the capital of Yucatan.
In a press conference in which the Olimpo Cultural Center was set up in the manner of a circus with magicians and stilt walkers, mayor Renán Barrera Concha gave a “little taste” of the many programmed activities, in which for the first time the Autonomous University of Yucatan and the Higher School of Arts of Yucatan will join, and which will also feature fashions, such as the hipil.
“It will count with the participation of 866 artists, in a night with music, dance, theater and gastronomy that will not stay in the Historical Center of the City, since there are also activities arranged for the Cultural Center of the South, the Municipal Dance Center, located to the west of the city, and also for the colonia Vicente Solís and the neighborhood of San Sebastián, explained the director of Culture, Irving Berlín Villafaña.
Highlights will feature the presentation of the Circus Dragon, which will offer the show “Alive Christmas”, the show of the Nené Clown, two brothers who will gracefully address the theme of love, in addition to the circus arts, which in the framework of the Lux show will leave the audience with a pleasant surprise. The monologue “Icarus” will also be presented, with Daniel Fizazi.
The mayor of Mérida stressed that in these ten editions of the White Night, this will be the first occasion in which the Yucatan Sedeculta will participate, so for the occasion the José Peón Contreras and the Daniel Ayala theaters, and the Palacio de la Musica and the Museum of Popular Art will be included. And as part of the family atmosphere that the White Night will have in this edition, the president of the Municipal DIF, Diana Castillo Laviada, announced the participation of the Scouts of Mexico, whose leader Raúl Alfonso Caballero Alcocer, explained that the young people will be in the parks and emblematic sites organizing traditional games for parents to live with their children.
And as the cold days that characterize this period of the year are approaching, taking advantage of this great event will be provide attendees the opportunity to donate a blanket that will later be delivered to the most needy families of the municipality; in exchange they will raffle among those who participate in this appeal of the municipal DIF, three bicycles.
In the gastronomic part, in addition to the Park of San Juan will be installed stalls with food from Germany, Colombia, France and China, in an edition of the most liked program “Food Without Borders”, in the Mejorada will be installed “food trucks” They will offer a wide range of dishes.
But, in addition, the president of the delegation Yucatan de la Canirac, Alejandra Pacheco Montero, announced that there will be 50 restaurants affiliated with the chamber that will participate in the 2018 edition of the White Night.
