Merida’s Railways Museum: a journey through history

The Museum of the Railroads of Yucatan takes us on a journey through history, one in which Yucatecans moved in these steel giants.

A story that the Mayan Train aspires to repeat. The first models appeared in the nineteenth century and in them traveled the likes of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, the noted governor of Yucatan.

Most trains keep their wooden seats and furnishings intact, while others have been modified to become real libraries.

Admission to the museum costs 20 pesos for adults and 10 pesos for children under 12, from Wednesday to Sunday.
