Vehicle inspections crank up in March in Yucatan

The Department of Sustainable Development (SDS) will start the process of vehicle verification on March 1, for which it requested the participation of all owners of motor vehicles, public and private transport of cargo or passengers, as well as vehicles of federal, state and municipal public service.

The state government made public the official calendar that establishes the times in which motorists in Yucatán will have to present their units, in order to establish that the vehicles are in good condition to circulate through the state, giving priority mainly to the care of the environment.

The inspection period will begin on March 1 and end on December 31, 2019.

The review will be conducted at the facilities of the Vehicle Verification Center, located at Calle 90 number 477- A at Calle 59, within the Bojórquez neighborhood (ex Chetumalito) from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Payment for the verification is required.

The verification program includes two periods: from March to July and from August to December, so all the units must be verified during this period of time.

In the case of private vehicles that are not for public transport use, the cost is equivalent to 3.20 Units of Measurement and Update (UMA), for 2019, that is, around 270 pesos.

In the case of vehicles for public transport, with a capacity of up to five passengers, the cost is 3.20 UMA; and for vehicles with a capacity of more than five people, it would be 4.96, around 420 pesos.

Vehicle verification is contemplated in the Environmental Protection Law of the State of Yucatan, as well as in the Traffic and Roads Regulations, in order to preserve the State’s air quality.

The revision will be made according to the completion of the plates of the transportation units, as published in the Official Gazette.
