Tourism “Tianguis” in Merida will require new infrastructure: governor

When confirmed, as reported by Punto Medio, that Mérida will host the Tianguis Turístico 2020, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal stressed that the selection to host the most important tourism event of its kind in Mexico will require new infrastructure.

“In the area of ​​infrastructure, there are some requirements for large spaces that we will announce in due course in order to host an exhibition of this dimension,” Vila Dosal said, adding that the projects would have to come from state resources, although he would also explore other options.

In an interview with the media, Vila Dosal said that the government and the tourism sector were “happy to have achieved this important event”, adding that since his assumption of the governorship the application to be the tourism trade show’s host city was formally submitted.

“This event will allow Yucatan to be put before the eyes of the world, as the great tourist destination that it is, as this is the most important event of national tourist attraction and where exhibitors from Europe and the whole world go,” said the governor.

The meeting does not yet have a definite date, but it is regularly held in March or April.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Tourism of the federal government, Miguel Torruco Marqués, confirmed through his Twitter account the choice of Merida.

Vila Dosal was in Mexico City Friday for an announcement.
